Our Story

In our work with parents and early childhood providers over the years, we recognized a need for a play model.

A place that prioritizes, protects, and supports the type of play that builds brains and prepares children for success in school and life. It isn’t play time and then learning time, it’s playing to learn.

The serious Play of childhood

While there are many options for entertaining children in Fort Worth, there are few spaces that allow our children to engage in the serious play of childhood. Children are capable and competent to construct their own knowledge of the world around them. They need a laboratory that allows them to seek their own answers and follow their own ideas. Open-ended play with materials provided by knowledgeable educators allow children to make the most of their play experiences.

Play Studio is also a resource for parents seeking a deeper understanding of play, childhood, and their own child’s development.

Play Studio believes that all children deserve a childhood rich in experiences and play, to have their ideas respected and to be given an opportunity to explore and create. To this end, we are committed to providing play spaces to children of all backgrounds. We recognize that black and brown children, immigrant children, and other marginalized groups are less likely to spend childhood free of stress, traumatic experiences and undue academic pressure. Therefore, we will use our influence and resources to bring play, respect, and freedom of expression to children in under-resourced communities.
